An update from our June filing.

The April–June period is notoriously slow for political contributions, and this year was no exception. But my team and I are incredibly grateful for every dollar and every hour shared with our campaign. We appreciate you and do our best to stretch every contribution to our shared benefit!

Georgia’s State Ethics Commission requires candidates and incumbents to report all contributions, expenditures, loans, and investments on a rolling basis. And in election years these filings are required at the ends of January, April, June, and September.

So, let’s take a look at what our June filings can tell us about how the two campaigns compare.

WHERE WE EXCEL: INDIVIDUAL ENGAGEMENT.

A consistent trend from one filing to another is our campaign’s dramatic success engaging with individual donors across all three counties in the 56—Cherokee, Cobb, and Fulton.

In April and June, our State Senate campaign earned 38 individual contributions compared to our opponents’ singleton—and that, on his relative doorstep. Indeed, when we take a step back and map our 38 contributors (blue) against his one (red)—and layer in our 170 donors from prior filings (gray)—we can see a very encouraging footprint of our support inside of and outside of the district!

WHERE OUR OPPONENT EXCELS: INSTITUTIONAL DOLLARS.

Another consistent trend is our opponent’s reliance on institutional donors to keep his ample war chest flush.

Political and trade associations are known to favor incumbents over challengers—even when that incumbent votes against their stated interests—but my review of Albers’ corporate donors left me more than a little surprised. A little hurt, actually. As a design consultant, I’ve spent thousands of hours working for AT&T, The Home Depot, Publix, T-Mobile, UPS, and Walmart. Where’s the love, fam?

I have to hope companies like Gas South and Quiktrip are cynically paying for access and not enthusiastically endorsing John Albers’ history of anti-LGBTQ legislation, his opposition to abortion-access without exception for the life of the mother, or for his inaction addressing the rampant corruption and violence in our state prison system. Just sayin’.

If you work for one of these corporations and want to demonstrate your bi-partisanship, you can balance the scales here. 😇

JD JORDAN FOR GEORGIA STATE SENATE DISTRICT 56

For anyone in East Cobb, Roswell, or Woodstock alarmed by the state’s escalating attacks on our bodies, our families, our doctors’ offices, our classrooms and libraries, even our polling places, I’m running for state senate district 56 to fight for our freedoms and to deliver a better future for everyone in Georgia.

And unlike my opponent who’s spent 14 years rolling back our freedoms, failing to safeguard our kids, and gerrymandered his district to stay in office, I promise to bring everyone in the 56—regardless of ideology—the best possible constituent experience so you feel heard, valued, and supported. As we all deserve to be.

I’m running for the 56. Let’s make a better Georgia for all of us.
