Misinformation is an act of cowardice.

Tell me you got nuthin' without telling me you got nuthin'.

And here I was fixating on JD Vance making up stuff in Ohio when I should've been worried about John Albers making up stuff right here in Roswell...

This afternoon, a few neighbors shared an image they received by text message that uses a not-too-flattering picture of me with the less flattering tagline, "Deadbeat dad JD Jordan wants to be your State Senator, but he won't even pay his court-ordered child support."

And since a few folks have reasonably asked for clarification, here are the details:

  1. I am divorced. My ex and I co-parent and have joint legal custody and equal time with our two sons.

  2. I pay child support.

  3. I am not behind on that child support

  4. My ex and I are currently recalculating that child support.

His message is a lie. And he knows it. But since his record is so weak on anything at all related to kids, I supposed he has to punch down and use his office to slander.

I'm actually really upset that John Albers is dragging my teenage children and my ex into this campaign in such an ugly and dishonest way. And that he has the gall to accuse me of being a deadbeat dad when he knows very well how much I love my kids (he and I worked together years ago at Slalom) and he knows that it's because of his attacks on my kids that I decided to run in the first place.

But I also know how comfortable he is with lying—about elections, about trans kids, about gun violence, about his record…

We deserve to represented by a better class of man than John Albers.

Because John Albers attacked me with this child-support misinformation a few weeks ago on NextDoor, I asked the attorney helping with our support recalculation to draft a letter explaining things. I had hoped he'd be a bigger man and that I wouldn't need to share it. But as I have for seven terms, I clearly hoped too much from him.

Update:

Second verse. Same as the first.

I'll grant, they used a better pic of me this time.

Undeterred by truth and unfettered by morality, our opponent launched a follow-up attack on me this week. This time, accusing me of being the target of an active State Ethics Commission (SEC) investigation and repeating the claim that I’m thousands of dollars behind on child support.

So, as above, let me clarify:

  1. A neighbor (landlord not tenant) and supporter of our opponent, John Albers, filed a State Ethics Complaint against me two weeks ago citing a late (not unpaid) child support payment from July of this year.

  2. The SEC dismissed the complaint on our first call—there is no active investigation.

  3. I am (still) not behind on child support.

A lot of folks are reminding me, if Albers is resorting to these kind of ugly attacks and hiding behind a made-up organization to do it (Child Advocates Against Deadbeat Parents), that I should see this as an act of desperation from his campaign. That he’s got nothing of substance to attack me about and sees our State Senate campaign as a threat.

That I’m living in his head, rent free.

Maybe that’s all true. But I’m more concerned that my shameless elected representative is publicly attacking my family. My kids. Again. This time, not from his desk under the Gold Dome but from his home, some 20 houses down the road from ours.

And if this is how he treats a neighbor and former coworker, how might he treat any of his constituents?

We deserve better than John Albers.

JD JORDAN FOR GEORGIA STATE SENATE DISTRICT 56

For anyone in East Cobb, Roswell, or Woodstock alarmed by the state’s escalating attacks on our bodies, our families, our doctors’ offices, our classrooms and libraries, even our polling places, I’m running for State Senate district 56 to fight for our freedoms and to deliver a better future for everyone in Georgia.

And unlike my opponent who’s spent 14 years rolling back our freedoms, failing to safeguard our kids, and gerrymandered his district to stay in office, I promise to bring everyone in the 56—regardless of ideology—the best possible constituent experience so you feel heard, valued, and supported. As we all deserve to be.

I’m running for the 56. Let’s make a better Georgia for all of us.
