The latest from the Georgia Capitol & the campaign trail.
Fair Districts GA.
Today, we're proud to share, our campaign was endorsed by Fair Districts GA, a non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting fair redistricting in Georgia. They focus on fighting gerrymandering to ensure that electoral districts are drawn in a way that accurately represents the population.
He can’t run on his record. So we will.
There have been 49 school shootings in Georgia since John Albers became chair of the Senate Public Safety Committee.
As the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported last week, our campaign purchased www.senatorjohnalbers.com and turned it into a detailed takedown of our opponent's record on gun violence in our schools.
7,000 doors knocked—and many more to come!
When I started this State Senate campaign, I’d never lit dropped or canvassed a single home. And now, 12-months after announcing our campaign, I’m absolutely staggered to realize our team has canvassed 7,000 homes in the 56! And I’m beyond fortunate to have so many great parters in this effort.
Climate cabinet.
Today, we're proud to share, our campaign was endorsed by Climate Cabinet, an organization focused on empowering local and state policymakers to address the climate crisis effectively. They use data science, technology, and policy expertise to identify key opportunities for climate action across the United States.
Misinformation is an act of cowardice.
This afternoon, a few neighbors shared an image they received by text message that uses a not-too-flattering picture of me with the less flattering tagline, "Deadbeat dad JD Jordan wants to be your State Senator, but he won't even pay his court-ordered child support."
And since a few folks have reasonably asked for clarification, here are the details:
Progressive Turnout Project.
Today, we're proud to share, our campaign was endorsed by The Progressive Turnout Project, the largest voter contact organization in the US focused on mobilizing Democratic voters and defending democracy. Using data-driven strategies, they aim to increase voter turnout by engaging directly with voters through grassroots initiatives like canvassing, phone banking, and postcard campaigns.
Women’s Day rally at the local Harris-Walz office.
Two weekends ago I had the chance to (quickly) address a Women's Day Rally at the Harris-Walz office just across the river in Sandy Springs. And much to my surprise, someone was nice enough to catch me on video.
September 11.
A lot of feels today. On every 9/11.
I watched the attack on TV from a conference room at my first office job. And when the buildings blossomed in death, my brain snapped back to Challenger, to Oklahoma City, to Centennial Park. To this day, when I see pictures of falling men and people caked in dust, it's hard not to go back there.
Pay no attention to the Senator behind the violence.
If our opponent really concerned about deadbeat parents, he should stop being one and actually do something to address the violence he’s enabled. But he’s demonstrated far too much cowardice for me to have any faith that he’ll ever put our kids ahead of himself.
I can’t stomach our opponent’s silence on the matter. His silence is complicity. And if we want to make Georgia safer for everyone, we’ve got to vote out John Albers.
State policy helped make this happen.
Yesterday, my opponent and I spoke to the Fraternal Order or Police (FOP) in Cobb. But the whole time I was in that lodge, my mind was 50 miles away. In Winder. What did John Albers have to say? For ten minutes, he talked generically about first responders and waxed patriot about 9/11. But at no point did he acknowledge the tragedy that unfolded mere hours before.
And why would he. He helped make it happen.
Talking climate issues with Georgia Conservation Voters.
I recently had the chance to sit down with Georgia Conservation Voters’ Mia Delamar as part of their “Meet the Candidate” series. We discussed a wide variety of climate topics, including economics development, our regional water quality and water war issues, energy grid diversification, and incentivizing dual land use and solar buy backs. We also discussed some personal topics, including my family, my experience surviving stage-three colon cancer, and my passion for improving constituent engagement.
The middle-class recession comes of the burbs.
If you have an office job, you’re likely aware of something the news little reports: Despite record unemployment lows and stock-market highs, we’re living through a significant economic downturn—one marked by widespread layoffs in sectors like tech, finance, and consulting
Unserious men obsessed with trans athletes.
Excluding transgender students addresses a non-existent problem. But until gender dysphoria is as commonly accepted among the legislators as erectile dysfunction, our elected officials are going to keep burning time and money to bully a handful of teens and young adults.
Dungeons & Democrats event set for East Cobb candidates.
Dungeons & Democrats: The Campaign Campaign is coming to East Cobb on Sunday August 25 featuring local candidates in a unique way. At this event, four local candidates running in competitive Republican-held districts will take the stage for a lively dinner theater-style performance playing a custom tabletop roleplaying game.
Georgia Equality.
Today, we're proud to share, our campaign was endorsed by Georgia Equality, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing fairness, safety, and opportunity for LGBTQ+ communities and their allies in Georgia. Founded in 1995, it is the largest statewide organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals through advocacy, education, and political engagement.
The state of our election.
As we’ve been knocking doors and talking to voters in East Cobb, Roswell, and Woodstock, folks have been asking about rumors they’ve heard about our state voter portal and the State Election Board. So, let’s take a look at what’s going on ahead of the November election…
Creativity & leadership merge in politics.
In my recent interview with Voyage ATL, I talk about how my background in storytelling and the arts has uniquely prepared me to bring fresh, innovative ideas to our community and how my unique blend of creativity and political acumen promises to bring a new dynamic to local governance. I’m passionate about fostering a vibrant, inclusive Georgia where every voice is heard and valued.
Mr. Jordan goes to Roswell.
Last night was public comment night for the Roswell City Council . I went as a resident—not as a candidate—to voice my support for preserving or history and my opposition to Mayor Kurt Wilson’s lack of transparency and constituent engagement.
But the mayor had other plans.
Don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened.
I can’t imagine the mix of emotions the Bidens must be feeling right now. Having only just dipped my toes into politics and having only recently learned how invested the whole family becomes in the campaign, I’m grateful the President stepped up four years ago and I’m in awe at his decision to end his 52-year career.
A video discussion with JD Jordan.
A few months back, I had the fortunate opportunity to be interviewed by Tran Bui, an Emmy-award winning journalist, news anchor, and Roswell businesswoman who’s production company helped with our killer “Vote for a fighter. Vote for a dad” campaign ad.
